It’s not often that I meet my couples the day of their wedding. Sometimes though…there is no other way!!! Jaime & Holden fell in love with Niagara on the Lake when they came to visit on a trip. The adorable town and beautiful vineyards won their heart. It wasn’t long after that they decided to travel from Ohio to this small town in Ontario and exchange their vows. The beauty of this story is that they were going to elope without telling the world. Their secret was hidden along with Jaime’s engagement ring. She was so excited she could finally put it on the morning of their wedding day: shortest engagement ever!! They exchanged their vows along Lake Ontario with New York in the back ground. Cake and champagne soon followed at Stratus Vineyards.
I’ve always loved the hustle and bustle of wedding days. Candid morning prep, crazy bridal party shenanigans, and genuine moments with friends and family. It wasn’t until I was able to photograph Jaime and Holden’s intimate elopement that my heart grew in a different direction. The small moments became the big ones. Getting ready together, going to the alter together, engagement ring shopping together, preparing the night before the wedding together. Together was the key word here, and together made the smile on both Jaime and Holden’s face so genuine that I could barely hold back my “awwww face” all day. They were so sweet, in love, and just wanted to hang out together!!
Today I didn’t just get to take pictures of a couple getting married. Today I got to celebrate love in its truest form, and this wedding was the wedding that wants me to book a million more elopements. Congratulations to you both and I’m so happy I was able to document this important day for you.
